    Introduction:

Information technology has brought great changes to human life. Digital media has influenced every aspect of society, culture and entertainment. Cultural and creative industries are faced with new issues and unprecedented opportunities for development. We are embracing a new era of integration of arts and sciences.

To develop our vision and innovation in interactive science, enhance the integration and development of interaction design and creative industries, showcase the achievements and development trends of modern education and creative industries, and promote the further integration of science, technology and humanities, Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design and Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Design will co-organize an International Conference on Interaction Design (ICID) on 16-18 October in 2009 at Tsinghua University. The conference aims to strengthen international academic exchange on interaction design, and to explore on an interactive platform between design educators and creative industries under a global vision.
